What Paddles Do The Senior Pro Women Use? (2023)

The Senior Pro Women tour continues to draw the best from all over the country. Paddle Technology continues to be a major factor in enabling them to compete at the highest levels. We hear a lot about the top women players such as Anna Leigh Waters, Simone Jardin and others and they are exceptional players.

However, there are many players who are in the 50+ age groups. According to USA Pickleball, 51.9% of players are 55+ years.

I am a 50+ player. I like trying out the equipment pros use to see if it can help me improve my game. But I also want to look at what the top senior women players use for their equipment to understand their strategies better and play tactics.

Let’s face it, at 50-60+; your game is different than players that are half that age. Power, Spin, Pace, and Placement are still important. But how you use them to beat your opponent does change. As does your maneuverability on the court.

So I like to try the different equipment the senior pro women are using and study their game style. They inspire me to continue to improve my game and advance in League play.

Why Is Getting A Good Paddle Important?

The quality of your pickleball paddle can significantly influence your performance in the game. Here are several reasons why getting a good paddle is important:

  1. Power and control: Higher-quality paddles provide a balance between power and control that you might not find in lower-quality alternatives. Paddles with a well-designed sweet spot can help you deliver more powerful and accurate shots.
  2. Weight: Paddles come in different weights, typically ranging from 6 to 14 ounces. Lighter paddles give you quicker reaction time at the net, while heavier paddles offer more power. The weight of the paddle should match your physical strength and playing style.
  3. Materials: The materials used to manufacture the paddle also play a crucial role. Graphite and composite paddle are preferred for their lighter weight and durability, while wooden paddles, although cheaper, are usually heavier and offer less precision.
  4. Comfort and fit: A good paddle should feel comfortable in your hand. The grip size should match the size of your hand, as a grip that’s too small or too large can lead to arm strain or lack of control during play.
  5. Durability: High-quality paddles tend to last longer and withstand the wear and tear of intense play for a longer period. This means you’ll spend less on replacements over time.
  6. Sound: Some paddles are quieter than others. In some communities, noise restrictions necessitate the use of quieter paddles.
  7. Spin: Certain paddle surfaces are designed to put more spin on the ball, offering another level of strategy in gameplay.
